Typography Notes

• Eligibility: choose a classical time-tested typeface/font 
• Serif vs. Sans Serif: Serif reads best at smaller sizes, can be complimentary
• Serif as the little wing things at the ends of the letters 
• Font Variance: Too many fonts will confuse the reader  and spoil the design
• Definition: Fonts that are too similar cause ambiguity 
• Readability: Use upper case and Lower case letters for optimum clarity 
• Alignment: Left alignment reads easiest, consider eye flow as it moves down a page 
• Emphasis: Use these tools with discretion and without disturbing eye flow 1. italics 2. bold 3. size 4. color 5. typestyle change 
• Integrity: avoid stretching your fonts 
• Weight: strive for a sense of balance 
• Mac is not a typewriter
• Large text blocks: Rags

Color Questions

- What are the three Primary colors?

          The three primary colors are Red, Yellow, and Blue

- How are secondary colors made?

           By mixing two primary colors like yellow and blue to make green

- How are tertiary coors made?

            They are created by mixing a secondary color with one or two primary colors like green and blue to make turquoise

- What is the deference between subtractive and additive color wheels?

             Subtracted colors are a darker hue while additive are lighter 

- How can color affect our perception?

              Lighter colors seem to come toward us and dark seem to go away

- How do colors affect each other?

               If colors that are light are put onto a dark background they will stand out more
